New publication from EU-FIB.net members on back cover of “Advanced Materials”

Controlled Formation of Skyrmion Bags” is featured on the back cover of “Advanced Materials” Volume 12, Issue 13.The paper was presented by Lisa-Marie Kern (MBI), Vladyslav M. Kuchkin (University of Luxembourg), Victor Deinhart (FBH), Christopher Klose (MBI), Themistoklis Sidiropoulos (MBI), Maike Auer (MBI), Simon Gaebel (MBI), Kathinka Gerlinger (MBI), Riccardo Battistelli (HZB), Steffen Wittrock (HZB), Tamer Karaman (Augsburg University), Michael Schneider (MBI), Christian M. The authors show how to create tiny magnetic structures, known as “skyrmion bags,” in a highly controlled way and at exact locations in a thin magnetic film. These structures are made up of several smaller magnetic patterns arranged inside each other. By combining focused ion beams, magnetic fields, and ultra-short laser pulses, the team can reliably form these complex patterns with great precision. This method opens up new possibilities for developing advanced magnetic materials that could be used in future technologies like faster and more efficient data storage or processing.
