Welcome
We are a collaborative network dedicated to advancing Focused Ion Beam (FIB) processing and related technologies. Our mission is twofold: to enhance existing concepts, technologies, and partnerships, and to foster new, interdisciplinary approaches and collaborations across Europe and beyond.
The network’s origins trace back to 2007, when the “D-A-CH FIB Arbeitskreis” (D for Germany, A for Austria, CH for Switzerland) held its inaugural meeting in Graz, Austria. Since then, annual workshops in Germany, Switzerland, and Austria have steadily grown in participation and garnered interest from other European countries. In response to the increasing international involvement, the Steering Committee has rebranded the group as the “European Focused Ion Beam Network” (Eu-F-N). From 2021 to 2024, the Eu-F-N was in close partnership with the FIT4NANO COST Action (links to https://www.fit4nano.eu and https://www.cost.eu/actions/ca19140), during which two joint workshops were organized in 2021 and 2024. Moving forward, it will be designated as EU-FIB.net to better reflect its expanded scope and ongoing global engagement.
